Today, a large Goblin siege came, so I prepped my military and my trap hallway, ready for them.
Their law-giver, a Dwarf traitor, even came. After he and the first squad of about 10 goblins and their mounts (about another 60 and 20 mounts and war animals remained after that) came through my surface gateway, I had the dwarves shut the bridge so I could filter the goblins in slowly. While the bridge closed, it flung a few stragglers and stunned them.
For some reason, the other ~80 goblins and beasts took that as a sign that it was time to GTFO. A little disappointed, I just had my military mop up the now-exposed law giver and his forces :/

Toady needs to buff training :/
My archers and melee dwarves have spent the last 6 years training around the clock.
Current result; 5 Elite Marksdwarves, 15 well-skilled regular Marksdwarves, and 30 melee dwarves, the best of whom are Talented.

My newest fortress is terribly dull. I haven't seen a single sign of a Goblin in the 5 years I've been playing, so I'm wondering if I happen to be living too far from any. Considering deliberately provoking the humans and elves to war if no Goblins ever show up.
I set a high number of creatues, but I haven't seen any yet. Not even a single Forgotten Beast >:

Most of the walls are engraved by my legendary engravers, I've got steel equipment being produced, and I've got crafts and gems up the yin yang XD

Earliest Dwarf death ever for me. Lost a dorf during the summer of my first year.
Basically, I'm trying to get my fortress ready to completely cut off from the surface, which also involves redirecting the river into a small well reservoir that empties into the caverns. Sadly, one of my idiot miners decided to loiter in there just as I broke through into the river and got dumped into the caverns. Multiple broken limbs and he was in the underground lake, so he died fast.
I gotta foist mining onto some migrant now and trade for some lousy copper picks when the caravan comes ):

We've endured our first seige! It was... A zombie. Just one. Spent several days chasing a horse around, got killed by the merchant guards. Whelp.
