/If you're reading this then I have some exciting news for you./
/I, DAN WINTERS, am dead. Now many of you users of OASIS may wonder how I might consider being dead a good thing... Well lets just say I never liked you all. I made the OASIS Virtual Reality for myself mainly and then I thought, 'What would happen if I sold developer rights and allowed people to make new worlds for OASIS?/
/Well after living for over 2 and a half decade after making that wonderfully terrible decision I was answered with what you know as the OASIS of your time, a multi server virtual reality filled with worlds of games, virtual schools, and even (for some reason) virtual malls./
/Needless to say I became amazed and disappointed with the world because of my invention, and now i get to look at each of you and say something. I don't give a fuck./
/Some of you are probably curious why a message might appear like this. 'Why would the developers put this in our personal mail files?' simple answer, they didn't./
/Ever since i was a child playing on the Xbox 360 I've always found a very interesting thing in each game. I would hunt for it for weeks, months if need be. Now what was I searching for? Easter eggs. Thats right... a simple quirk like a name drop or a picture hidden amongst the rabble of the game and being such a big fan of easter eggs and games and challenges, I decided that i would write a Code Gate program to infect all of the majour OASIS worlds./
/I did this for a very simple reason. I want the world to scramble over my fortune. Being a dead man with no heir to my fortune I could have easily given most of it to charity and so forth then i thought ' Why do that when i can offer it to all the players in OASIS, or better yet to just a group in OASIS./
/So here is what I am proposing to you and all the OASIS community. If you find all of my easter eggs and beat all of the challenges they give, then you can have a single shot at getting my fortune of 37 Billion USD. In case you don't know exactly how much that is.... well, you'll be able to buy your own island... or half of Africa.- A Quick Backstory:
- You live on Earth in the year 2045. The world is horribly overpopulated, sporting 11 Billion people. You, and approximately 1/4th of the planet own an OASIS. OASIS is a programed neural weave that allows the user full run access to the internet and allows them to visit multiple virtual realities. The OASIS system has essentially changed every facet of your life. You wake up in your apartment, eat something, and jack in to the OASIS system and go to work doing programing, PXL designing, Sports, Schooling, or whatever your occupation is. Then when work is done you move to a new world orbiting your current one (Quite literally orbiting, Its like looking at many vibrant moons floating around the sky.) and relax until you need to sleep, eat, drink, or use the restroom.
HOW IT WORKS:
So essentially in this game you are playing as you. the current you, not the 2045 you. You have an avatar that looks exactly like you. Its the avatar you use for work and so on. Everthing in OASIS is bought and run with PXLs, a digitized currency composed of raw pixels that can be used for just about anything, given the right programing. Your avatar will change whenever you enter a new world. It will change to another version of you that fits the setting and you will lose any gear, experience, and abilities from previous worlds when you cross over.
[spoiler="Character Creation"]So lets start off with the basics. Like I said, everything is made of PXLs (1 PXL is approximately 100 Megapixels). You spend PXLs to increase stats, rez items, and learn skills in worlds. These abilities can carry over to worlds, but you must pay more PXLs to do so, otherwise they are not carried over and you lose them all until you return to that world. PXLs Always carry over. You can only carry over to new worlds at the world hub unless you can get your hands on some special items.
Personal Traits: This is a trait that you (as a person) have and will carry over to all worlds, as it revolves around your skill or ideology mostly. You get one trait, THATS IT. So choose well.
- Trait List:
--->Code Breaker: You can access and damage codes for items, people, and even surrounding. It may cost some PXLs but putting down a door to the outside of the dungeon might come in handy. Be careful though, Admins are always prowling.
>Ability: You may reduce the effectiveness of an item or enemy by up to 50%. You may also link items, making them a teleporter upon touch, be careful some bugs are bound to exist.
--->Meta Gamer: You are the master of meta game data. Drop rates, PXL average per dungeon, Creature stats, all that shit, its your fucking domain. Not only that but you're the master of random fucking knowledge.
>Ability: You can roll a knowledge check and add 2 to it. you may also roll a knowledge check regardless if you are trained to do so.
--->Optimizer: You can't sit by and watch that wizard cast some slime spell instead of Thunder Cloud. Why does this presentation have so much empty space that could be utilized for information? GODS I SWEAR THESE MOTHER FUCKERS...
>Ability: You gain the capability to work around what you want with great efficiency. When you spend PXLs you get a refund of 1-8% rounded up. (Doll a d8)
--->Programer: You've always had a knack for doing great things with written code and 3d modeling. As a result you've found yourself capable of changing a great deal of things in most worlds.
>Ability: Whenever you create an item with a program you may adjust a stat by 1 or use a second program to add an ability to the item for an additional cost. You may also use credits and take some time to create new programs from scratch.
--->Lucky: You've always been lucky with the drops for games or haggling with merchants.
>Ability: Once per area you may roll 3 times the dice you would normally roll for any 1 roll and you may take the higher or lower of the 3 dice.
--->Loyalist: Your friends are important to you, no matter what the circumstance.
>Ability: Whenever you red-shirt yourself for an ally you reduce the damage by 10%
--->Androgynous: For some reason the servers always make your avatar a girl, or is it a boy? Regardless people can tell what you are when you talk... sometimes.
>Ability: You're avatar can easily be mistaken for either gender and as a result you often fit in most crowds, Add 2 to any diplomacy attempt made by one who does not know your true gender. Keep this bonus if they like your true gender.
--->Cheap Bastard: You've always been cheap. You know it, your friends know it, and your girlfriend definitely knew it.
>Ability: Whenever you purchase gear and successfully barter down the price you may add an additional 10% to the discount. Whenever you sell something and bargain up the price you may also add the 10%.
All of you start with 250 PXLs. PXLs can be used to rez items (create them from thin air) Rezing an item will require a program to do so. Programs can be bought by developers. NOTE: some areas will not allow you to rez items.
- PXLs:
- PXLs are the lifeblood of OASIS. They are a universal currency, experience, and building materials. As a universal law of OASIS all PXLs must be able to carry over to any world.
- Stats and PXLs:
INCREASING STATS WITH PXLs: All OASIS programs must run on the same stat system. All statistics start at 2 on all worlds, except for Ballistics and Weapon skills, which start at 25. This represents the average human's capabilities. Some games may have races or classes that modify these numbers. The following list is the list of statistics and a general description of what they encompass and how to upgrade them.
Ballistics Skill (BS): This skill will determine your capability as with ranged weapons. This skill is measured as 1-100. Getting a 100 in this skill is near impossible as it would cost a great deal of PXLs.
COST: every 5 points costs 10 PXLs. When you have reached 50 WS the cost increases by 10 PXLs. Maxes at 50 during character creation
Weapon Skill (WS): This skill determines your capabilities with other weapons, primarily melee and thrown weapons. It is also scaled on levels of 1-100.
COST: every 5 points costs 10 PXLs. When you have reached 50 WS the cost increases by 10 PXLs. Maxes at 50 during character creation
Strength (S): This stat adds damage to any melee attack and is the basis for multiple things. Every point in strength adds 10 slots to your inventory and 1 additional damage to melee. This skill is measured on a scale of 1-10.
COST: To increase this stat you must pay 10 x the next skill level. (30 PXLs to 3 then an additional 40 PXLs to 4) This stat maxes at 5 during character creation.
Toughness (T): This centers around resistances and how many wounds you can take. This stat adds 1 wound per point and also gives you a +1 on any resistance rolls. It also determines your Poise. This skill is measured and upgraded just like strength.
COST: To increase this stat you must pay 10 x the next skill level. (30 PXLs to 3 then an additional 40 PXLs to 4) This stat maxes at 5 during character creation.
Agility (A): This, despite common RPG logic, has nothing to do with defense. Agility is primarily used for a great deal of skills, but it also encompasses your quickness on teh draw and how fast you can physically move. This skill is measured and upgraded just like strength.
COST: To increase this stat you must pay 10 x the next skill level. (30 PXLs to 3 then an additional 40 PXLs to 4) This stat maxes at 5 during character creation.
Intelligence (I): In reality a game can't make you more intelligent and as such it has limited you to the necessity of a stat. The stat will determine the difficulty of puzzles and whether or not you may even access the puzzles. It also determines the power of magical abilities and/or how many abilities you have available. This skill is measured and upgraded just like strength.
COST: To increase this stat you must pay 10 x the next skill level. (30 PXLs to 3 then an additional 40 PXLs to 4) This stat maxes at 5 during character creation.
Perception (P): This plays a pivotal role in all of your senses. On top of that this ability will always offer an adjustment to your attack placement and critical rolls by up to 2 points per level. This skill is measured and upgraded just like strength.
COST: To increase this stat you must pay 10 x the next skill level. (30 PXLs to 3 then an additional 40 PXLs to 4) This stat maxes at 5 during character creation.
Fellowship (F): Fellowship is your character’s ability to interact with other
creatures, to deceive, charm or befriend. It also determines the amount of minions you may have follow you, as well of their effectiveness. This skill is measured and upgraded just like strength.
COST: To increase this stat you must pay 10 x the next skill level. (30 PXLs to 3 then an additional 40 PXLs to 4) This stat maxes at 5 during character creation.
