In front of the Yilsee Cathedral
Riekie: How many are there?
Blaize: It’s difficult to say, there’s so much excitement. But… (places his face in his hand)
Riekie: Does your head hurt?
Blaize: No, my eyes. There has to be dozens of them. They keep appearing.
Riekie: That life sense of yours is amazing.
Blaize: They’re coming from every direction. Everyone in Yilsee is probably going to die.
Riekie: Don’t say that! What if someone heard? That’s not princely at all. Say “I will fight them all!”
Blaize: You know, I came here to become a monk.
Riekie: Well you’re not a monk until I say so, so protect your people and do princely things. You have a holy sword don’t you?
Blaize: Well, yeah, but even if I held the church doors the sheer weight of their bodies…
Riekie: Good grief, you don’t have to do it alone. You’re a prince. Rally the locals, they’ll die if they don’t fight.
Blaize: They’ll die if they do fight.
Riekie: We can’t run so we fight! Stop being so hopeless. That’s your first lesson as a monk. Have faith in others. People are going to die, people have already died. Save the rest. You can do it.
Blaize: There’s a garrison nearby, I know the captain. They should’ve noticed this. If we can survive long enough, then maybe.
Riekie: Yes! That’s the spirit. You can sense people with high saintly affinities, right? Go get them, they’re bound to help however they can. We’ll fight together!
Blaize: We? There’s a cluster of frightened and wounded in your parish, sister. Tend to them, and leave the battle to me.
Riekie: Heh… yeah I sort of forgot about that. I want to help you, but I’ll go back in the church. Take these vulneraries in my place (she gives Blaize 2x Vulneraries before retreating to the cathedral).
-------------
I put pressure on the back of my skull with my right hand. The whole reason I had come to Yilsee was to get away from my duty as a prince, to get away from fighting. But it was as if the divine willed my misfortune and had conjured monsters for me to deal with out of thin air. I sighed to myself. I was being selfish. People were dying here, and I might be able to help.
I moved to a higher spot on the ground. I wasn’t exactly more noticeable, but my regal clothing made me stand out. I raised my voice. “Everyone! I am your prince, Blaize. I can get us out of this, but I need help. If you think you can fight, please come forward. We must hold out until reinforcements come from the nearby garrison.”
