    Just a League.

Part 1: The New Kid in Town

This flight is taking forever. I couldn’t comprehend why I took this job in the first place. I’m to be a teacher for the biology sector of a high school, the same job I had, only with less pay. Sighing at the thought of myself making such a bad decision I decide to try and look at the brighter side of it. I’m going to the barge, or as it’s more commonly named, Freedom City. I’ve always wanted to be on it since they began construction 12 years ago, only about 3 months after the accident. As to be expected they barred all nuclear based experiments in light of the collapse they had caused back then. It’s hard to think of it now, how everything I grew up around was doused with radiation overflowing from the UCLA campus. Almost half the valley gone from that stupid experiment, flooded with radioactive particles that crippled the agricultural supremacy that America was just rebuilding.

Since then the world has changed exponentially. Russia has become a majour supplier of oil and steel with their new ability to tap into the Siberian surplus of materials. China and India have been at war for almost 3 years with constant threats of nuclear annihilation. The Koreas are actually at war with the South being supplied and reinforced by the new Japanese military force. Europe is in a cold war with the middle east and turkey and all of these cultures have found a new home inside the skyscrapers of the floating metropolis that I am currently in transit to.

I lean back in my chair and let out a sigh as I can’t even see the ocean I’m flying over, cloud cover blocking my vision. The city can’t be too far off now though. I’ve been flying for some 8 hours and the place is relatively close to Hawaii. I look out the window again trying to ignore the crying child a few rows back and I notice some small specs on the distance. I pull my small spy glass from my bag and look at the approaching objects. Freedom city defense jets, that means we are at least within 40 miles of the city. Within a few minutes they are flying next to the plane as an escort to the landing strip. I look down at the clouds and notice them growing higher to meet us. We were descending and soon we breached the bottom of the clouds. The pilot’s voice scratched onto the intercom.

    “Welcome to Freedom City everyone.”

If you want it to be a campaign then start making a character. Btw we have super powers. Essentially I plan on making my character learn some special tasks with his powers which is how he "levels up". If you want i can move this over to campaigns and add a leveling type system and stats. It'd probably be made similar to Wrought From the Coffin. you are also yourselfish, but with some for of power. Nathan has 4 angel wings and 4x the strength of a normal man. I can teleport so long as I've seen the place i want to be and I have 3x human strength.

I could see the whole city from where I was. Each district built on top of its own small island and connected by bridges. The harbours were bustling with ships and I couldn’t wait to get onto the streets, so I didn’t. I pulled out my spy glass again and scanned the city looking for a suitable spot and found one in a small courtyard with few people around it. The building connected to the courtyard had a sign on it that read “Washington Island School District.” I chuckled at the fact that I already found where I was supposed to work and with a small second of concentration I was now standing in front of the building. It feels good to be able to ignore most forms of transit. Too bad I need to see a place in person at least once before I can start teleporting back and forth.

The building is still being constructed for the most part, but it looks like it will be a nice place by tomorrow when classes start for me. I sigh and wonder into the office looking around. I’m met by a young black woman sitting down behind the counter typing at what must be some 300 words a minute, maybe faster. She notices me and her speed drops significantly. She reaches and pulls the lollipop out of her mouth.

    “Do you need something Sir?”

“I’m Mr. Wagner, the new Bio teacher.” I wave kindly at her as her face lights up with joy at not having to deal with something she didn’t want to, maybe pissed off parents or something. She looks at her wrist watch.

“You’re early. Plane land sooner than expected?”

“Something like that yes. I’d like to see the building if you don’t mind.”

“Of course not.” She stands up and takes some keys from a ring on the desk. “Names Nataly.”

The tour was sweet and to the point. The building itself was much more impressive than I thought. Since the city doesn’t have much greenery they converted 4 floors into different biomes for students to laze about in. Before I left I got instructions on where my apartment was and I decided to call it a night, but rest was not apparently an option in this town. As luck would have it I was awoken by a loud crash into the room next to mine. Without thought I opened my own door and was greeted by a man with a rifle of some sort or another. He saw me and pointed his gun menacingly as most burglars do.

“This isn’t your business. Go inside and sleep.” Within a split second I stood behind him already delivery a chop to his kidneys.

“I don’t like to be woken up by idiots.” I said as he fell over in pain. With a strong swipe of my hand he went down and I averted my gaze to the man inside who hadn’t noticed any of this. I walked up to him and gave him a nice tap on the shoulder to let him know he had company.

“Wha-“ again in just a second or less the man was on the ground. I turned to see a terrified woman coddling a child. I waved at them.

“I’m your neighbor. Names Ian. Excuse me a moment.” I touch the man on his collar and feel raw energy course through me as I transmit myself and my prisoner to a nice secluded spot on top of my apartment building. I sit there holding him over the edge. “Do you know what it’s like to lose something valuable to you?” He doesn’t respond, most likely because he’s unconscious. I sigh and let him drop, his body landing onto a window washer’s cart. I teleport back and do the same to his friend. They can sit until morning I tell myself. With that I go back to my room and call it a night. The stupid city still keeps me awake with noise.
