How it works Empty How it works

Post by Ippy Fri Aug 12, 2011 12:22 pm

What this is here is something called play-by-post. How it works is mostly obvious, but here’s a few tips and don’t do’s.

-Give other players time to respond. Don’t rush ahead and force other players to respond to you.
-Don’t control other players’ interests without explicit permission from the player.
-Read the words of the GM like Holy Scripture. I will lend administrative power to GM’s.
-In the event of a high amount of interaction with another player beyond the normal
pace of the game, try to IM or IC with that player and post a collaborative. This works
    best for natural dialogues.
    -Do not powergame, nor metagame.
-Do not post the exact damage inflicted. It is a player’s responsibility to describe their
own losses, and the GM’s responsibility to clarify the extent of damage taken should
    there be argument or obscurity.
    -Accept death and defeat graciously.

    Not so obvious workings:

-Each game will have two topics associated with it. A OOC (out of character) and IC (in
character) topic. They must have the same title and include the either OOC or IC to
distinguish between the two. OOC is to discuss the game while IC is to play.
-Unless otherwise noted by the GM, you are expected to create and utilize
NPC’s/secondary characters as the situation calls for it for sheer expediency. For
example, you could create a shopkeeper for use by everyone, however, all players who
didn’t buy for the standard price would PM the GM with their haggle attempt and the
GM would reply with the result. The player would then post the shopkeeper actually
    implementing the result.
-Each game can be highly different, and doesn’t even have to be an RPG. Feel free to
create galactic civilization or toy soldier scoped campaigns. The workings, mechanics,
and resources of each game should be clearly stated by the GM.
-Unless otherwise noted by the GM, mantain only one "character sheet" in a OOC topic.

How games will start: For now, I will initialize all games to ensure we arn't flooded by hordes of campaigns. Additionally, I will only begin games that have garnered popularity in the development section and are mostly completed. Likely I will later allow anyone to begin a topic, bypassing myself.

I am hereby opening the campaign section so that any may start a game. What I consider a flood others might find enjoyable. If you have concerns about having a thick enough player roster as a GM, post in the development section first or make it clear in the OOC thread that the game may not officially start until enough interest has been generated.

Games including PnP (Pen and Paper) are actually reference/discussion threads to games played elsewhere.
